This is your proud principal Katherine Torres. I hope you are having a wonderful and safe summer. We look forward to greeting your family and child for the 2021-2022 school year. Superintendent Jones is focusing this year on 180 days of excellence. We will focus on creating a culture of care in our school, being responsive to students, families, and health and safety, and ensuring we are providing high-quality instruction. Our Roxhill theme this year is Roxstars Rising. Together we will excel in our goals and learning.
There might still be a feeling of uncertainty about this school year and health and safety. At Roxhill we prioritize the health of your child and are working with the district and Department of Health to have safety protocols in place for the start of the school year. Updates are posted on the district’s new website. You can access it at www.seattleschools.org.
We will be greeting students back for a full day of in person instruction this year. Our first day of school for our 1st – 5th grade students is Wednesday, September 1st. Kindergarten’s first day is Thursday, September 9th. School starts at 7:55 each day. Students are able to arrive at 7:40. We dismiss school on every day but Wednesday at 2:25. On Wednesday’s, except the first day of school, we dismiss at 1:10. As a reminder, if you have or know of an incoming Kindergartener please enroll them in SPS.
We will host our first Family Zoom with Principal Torres on Thursday, August 26th at 5:30pm. During this event we will focus on specific health and safety protocols and answer questions you might have. You can use this zoom link: Zoom Link
In preparation, we want to make sure we have the information you need to feel comfortable about the start of year. You can use this Forms Link to provide us with feedback and ask questions. I will try to answer them in robo-calls and on our Family Zoom August 26th.
