About the Event
This year the Coe Elementary PTA chose to dedicate its entire
annual fall fundraiser to supporting local school communities
disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
Shared fundraising is not new at Coe or in our Seattle school
community. But the concept is growing and family communities
can learn from each other how to maximize community and impact.
On Wednesday October 20 we will share stories from families
involved in and leading fund-sharing programs.
Speakers include:
• Christina Jimenez, representing Southeast Seattle Schools
Fundraising Alliance, which hosts the largest cooperative
fundraiser in the district, serving students at 15 elementary
and K-8 schools.
• Erin Conery, representing Roxhill Elementary, whose PTO is
seeking funds to purchase grocery store gift cards for
families facing food insecurity; hire Somali and Spanish
interpreters so all Roxhill families can participate in
meetings and events; and build a Learning Garden, the
school's first green space.
• Vivian Van Gelder, representing the PTO Giving Coalition, a
group of stakeholders from across the district advocating
around racially equitable resource distribution in Seattle
Public Schools.
This event is open to all.
